She initially pursued general medicine, successfully passing her MRCP examination, and then specialized in clinical microbiology and virology. She completed her training at Royal London and obtained her CCT in 2012. Since then, she has served as a Consultant Microbiologist. Over her 12-year career as a consultant, Dr. Elhag has assumed several leadership roles, including Departmental Lead, Infection Control Doctor, and Antimicrobial Stewardship Lead. She has driven significant change within her department by introducing innovative practices. One of her greatest strengths is her exceptional ability to unite her team through empowerment and motivation.

  • Dr. Yassin Elfaki, BSc, MSc, PhD | SSPaLM

    < Back Dr. Yassin Elfaki, BSc, MSc, PhD Head Of Medical Education office Yassin is an experienced Sudanese immunologist with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. He obtained his BSc and MSc in Medical Laboratory Science from Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), specialising in microbiology. He also worked at SUST as a teaching assistant then a lecturer of microbiology and immunology. In 2015, he got a PhD scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which enabled him to work on regulatory T cell (Treg) development and homeostasis during viral infection under the supervision of Prof Jochen Huehn in Braunschweig, Germany. He then moved to London to work as a postdoc on innate lymphoid cell (ILC) biology in the context of type 1 diabetes, under the supervision of Prof Lucy Walker. Currently, he's working as a senior scientist since 2023 in Oncology R&D, AstraZeneca, leveraging his skills to develop the next generation immune-mediated cancer therapeutics.
